Manager of Facility Operations and Special Projects

Leading a highly-skilled and dynamic team, you will ensure the City provides safe, clean and accessible recreational facilities including 6 arenas, 4 indoor pools, 3 outdoor pools and over 10 community centres and specialty facilities. You will:

  • Manage preventative maintenance and facility repair and renewal schedules
  • Develop and maintain plans and procedures in health & safety, fire safety and facility emergencies, including training
  • Provide technical support and expertise on capital projects and lifecycle planning
  • In collaboration with City departments and service providers, support the delivery of recreational opportunities to the community
  • As part of the department management team, participate in long & short range planning in conjunction with the Corporate Strategic Plan and Department’s Business Strategy.
  • On a rotational basis, serves as Acting Director in the Director’s absence.

We are looking for someone with the following qualifications and capabilities:

  • University Degree (4 or 5 year) in Recreation Facilities Management or related field
  • 5 years in recreation management, at least 3 of those years in facility administration
  • Strategic leadership in decision-making, issue resolution, budget management and staff development coupled with strong analytical, writing and project management skills.

Salary range minimum $86,273 to job rate $107,841

Summer Program Leaders

These positions report to the Summer Senior Programmer or the Recreation Coordinator. Summer Program Leaders are responsible for planning and implementing creative and varied programs to meet the needs and interests of all participants. You will be responsible for the safety and supervision of participants both on and offsite and are expected to implement and participate in activities...

The preferred candidate will have previous experience working in a camp setting and/or working with children/teens. All candidates must be 15 years of age or older.

  • Summer Neighbourhood Activity Program (S.N.A.P) - For children aged 5-10 years.

  • Youth Programs - Programs for youth aged 9-14 years.

  • Diversity Programs - Working with special needs children, teens and young adults aged 5- 21 years.

The position will be at various locations in Burlington for up to eight weeks, plus one week of training. Hours worked will be approximately 30-40 hours per week. The hourly rate is $10.50.
