Manager of Field Services - Roads

The Field Services – Roads Section of the Roads and Parks Maintenance Department is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair and rehabilitation of all road and storm water assets, including: roads, sidewalks, bridges, culverts, storm sewers, storm water management facilities and traffic control devices, as well as supporting construction-related capital projects for other departments.

As a member of the Department’s management team, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing staff and contractors in the daily operation and maintenance of city and regional road assets, in accordance with all applicable legislation and approved levels of service;
  • Developing and delivering annual road repair and rehabilitation programs, including: asphalt overlay, surface treatment, crack sealing and concrete works;
  • Developing and delivering efficient winter control operations...

As the Manager, you will lead, develop, coach and mentor a team of approximately 46 staff. You have a track record of leadership success in a progressive work environment, with proven project and people management, financial and strategic planning capabilities.... 

You have a Civil Engineering Degree and registration with the P.E.O. or an Engineering Technology Diploma and registration with the Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists Association. Your education is complemented by a minimum of five years experience in a municipal unionized environment, with at least two years at a management level. Familiarity with trenchless technology, traffic operations, environmental assessment, storm water management and parks operations would be an asset.

We offer a competitive compensation package in keeping with your background and the challenges of this role. The salary range is $88,646 minimum to $110,807 job rate. Casual Transit Operators

Burlington Transit is looking for highly motivated individuals to join our team in becoming a Casual Transit Operator. You will be required to drive conventional and specialized transit vehicles on a part-time capacity. Your BZ license, exceptional customer service skills and your willingness to work shifts (evening, weekend and holidays) are essential. Shortlisted candidates will be required to provide a current: drivers’ abstract, criminal records and vulnerable sector search to at their own expense.

Current hourly wage: $21.90 (following a minimum two week training rate of $12.00)
