2006 Approved Budget

The Budget & Strategic Planning Committee reviewed the 2006 Proposed Current Budget on Wednesday January 18, 2006 and Wednesday February 18, 2006. Council provided final approval of the 2006 Current Budget on Monday February 20, 2006. The total value of amendments to the proposed budget by Council was $1.2 million.

The 2006 Capital Budget and 2007-2015 Forecast was reviewed by the Budget & Strategic Planning Committee on Wednesday November 16, 2005 and Wednesday December 7, 2005, and subsequently approved by Council on Monday December 12, 2005, with an amendment to move part of Project RD-RA-479, specifically the Upper Middle Road Grade Separation Detailed Design Costs ($500,000), from 2007 to 2005. It should be noted that the City of Burlington’s 2006-2015 Capital Budget and Forecast received preliminary approval on Monday December 7, 2005, and received final approval with the approval on the current budget on Monday February 20, 2006.

The final net tax levy is $82.5 million. This equates to an average 5.5% increase over 2005 on the city's portion of the property tax bill or $55.97 for the average home assessed at $300,000. This equates to an average overall property tax rate increase of 2.98% (city, region and education) or $89.72 for the average home assessed at $300,000.
