Answers

    1.    What are the benefits of a membership?

The membership model provides the following benefits:

  • Lap swimming members also have access to all public swims
  • Shinny members also have access to all public skates
  •  Members are rewarded for commitment with built in discounting
  • Yearly recreational members (swim or skate) can purchase the other sport for only $20.00 and receive access to all public swimming and skating all year long.
  • Members do not have to wait in line to purchase an admission ticket.
  • Participation in member’s special events.

2.      Is there a group or family rate?

Yes, group/family discounting is still an option with single admission purchases and the membership model.

Single Admission: When a customer purchases 4 single admissions the fifth admission is free.

Group Membership:  When a monthly, seasonal or yearly membership is purchased each subsequent membership will receive a 10% discount to a maximum of 20%.

For Example:

§      First person pays full price

§      Second person pay full price minus 10%

§      Third person pay full price minus 20%

§      Fourth + persons pay full price minus 20%

Group Terms:

§      To qualify for group membership individuals must reside at the same mailing address.

§      Applies to memberships of equal or lesser value.

3.      What if the swim or skate reaches capacity?  Will my membership allow me to participate?

Regular admission criteria will apply to all customers (members and non members).  Admission is based on a first come first served basis.  A separate membership line will be available for members to swipe their membership cards eliminating the need to wait in line to purchase a ticket.

4.      I noticed the admission price is the same for a 1-hour and 1.5-hour shinny session?  Can you please explain the policy?

In an effort to be consistent in our pricing, shinny will now be charged per session, not for the length of time of the session.  This is similar to swimming and other drop in recreational opportunities (i.e. drop in gym).  It is the participant’s choice if they choose a 1-hour program or a 1.5-hour program.

All shinny sessions will be based on the 1-hour fee. Goalies will still be admitted for free.

5.      If a skate or swim is cancelled will I be able to receive a refund?

Similar to all programs, membership holders will not be refunded or offered a free pass for unexpected closures or cancellations due to special events.

6.    I noticed that the fee for lap swimming is more than the recreational swimming fee.  Why the difference?

While the operating costs to provide lap swimming and recreational swimming is the same, lap swimming is a fitness-focused activity with a smaller participation capacity than recreational swimming.  The pricing difference is a principle for cost recovery.

7.    Why is a senior and youth discount offered for lap swimming and shinny skating and not for recreational swimming or skating?

The City recognizes that there can be barriers/challenges to participation and supports reduced fee structures when/where it can enhance feasibility and access.  Groups such seniors, 60 years and older, and youth, between 1-17, receive a 25% discount on the program.
