Windrow Clearing Program for Persons with Disabilities
A windrow is the snow pushed back into a driveway by a passing snowplow. The City of Burlington is now offering a Windrow Clearing Program for Persons with Disabilities.

Within 16 hours of the road being plowed, a contractor working on behalf of the city will plow the windrow at the bottom of the driveway

The snow will be plowed to the side of the driveway

Plowing services will run from November 15, 2011 until March 31, 2012

This service does not include windrows left by sidewalk plows
Registration
This program limited to the first 150 registrants

Registration period will run from October 6, 2011 to October 28, 2011.

Register at City Hall (Parks & Recreation counter), 426 Brant Street,

$50 (non-refundable) fee per driveway entrance for the entire 2011/2012 season that must be paid in cash or by cheque, debit or credit card (Visa, Master Card or American Express) at time of registration.

Proof of disability must be shown (Taxable Benefit Slip or Parking Placard) or a Doctor’s note declaring the registrant unfit for windrow shoveling at time of registration
Who is Eligible?

People with disabilities living at a property that fronts onto a municipal road

An affidavit must be signed declaring that there are no able-bodied persons living at the same address

Urban residents living south of Dundas Street and within the Alton Community only
