About Rick Craven
Councillor Craven is in his fourth term as Burlington's Ward One representative. Prior to his election, he served as Chairman of the Aldershot Community Council and on the Executive Liaison Committee for the Halton Police Community Consultation Committees.
Since his first election in 2000, Councillor Craven has devoted a great deal of time to community capacity building, helping volunteers focus on neighbourhood needs. This work included establishing: the 2008 Committee celebrating Aldershot's 50th anniversary, the Aldershot Honour Roll, the Aldershot Community Festival, the Plains Road Village Vision Group, the Aldershot Business Improvement Area, the Heritage Umbrella Group and the Partnering Aldershot Coalition. He also played a significant role in the revitalization of the Warwick Surrey Community Association.
He was the first Chairman of Halton's Diversity Advisory Committee.
Councillor Craven currently sits on all Standing Committees except Audit for the City, is on the Regional Health & Social Services Committee and a variety of advisory committees.
Councillor Craven studied Communication Arts at Mohawk College and graduated from McMaster University. His previous work experience included five years as a news reporter and two decades as a manager with Ontario's Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.
He is a recipient of the Halton Award of Excellence for his work in promoting a safe and healthy community.
