2007 Approved Budget

Cover Page (2007 Approved)The Budget & Strategic Planning Committee received an overview of the 2007 Proposed Current Budget on Monday February 19, 2007. On Wednesday March 28 and Thursday April 5, 2007 the Budget & Strategic Planning Committee reviewed and approved, as amended, the 2007 Proposed Current Budget. Council provided final approval of the 2007 Current Budget on Tuesday April 10, 2007. The total value of amendments to the proposed current budget by Council was approximately $384,000, resulting in a city tax levy increase of 7.17%.

The Budget & Strategic Planning Committee received an overview of the 2007 Capital Budget and 2008-2016 Forecast on Monday February 19, 2007. On Wednesday March 7 and Thursday April 5, 2007, the Budget and Strategic Planning Committee reviewed and approved, as amended, the 2007 Proposed Capital Budget and 2008-2016 Forecast. Council provided final approval of the 2007 Capital Budget and 2008-2016 Forecast on Tuesday April 10, 2007. The approved capital budget has total expenditures of approximately $34 million in 2007 and approximately $430 million over the ten-year budget and forecast.

The final city net tax levy is approximately $90.71 million, equivalent to an increase in property taxes of 2.49% over 2006, or $76.96 for the average urban home assessed at $300,000. The overall property tax rate increase of 3.45% (which combines the city, region and education tax increases) equates to $106.84 for the average urban home assessed at $300,000.
