“Agricultural odours”

Province

Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food – 1-866-242-4460

Note: farms are protected from nuisance complaints so long as they are following "normal farm practices" as per the Farming and Food Production Protection Act (FFPPA). There is a board, the Normal Farm Practices Board, that hears complaints if it appears the farmer is doing something unusual which results in a nuisance impact.

If, in this case, the farm is simply operating according to standard practice, there is not much to be done. In such cases, it comes down to working with the farmer, identifying opportunities to make changes if possible that reduce the nuisance, if the farmer is willing to consider it.
