2011 - 2014 Strategic Plan Approved
Using the feedback from the involvement opportunities this spring, city council has worked to develop a strategic plan, called Burlington, Our Future. Burlington, Our Future lays out a vision for the City of Burlington and priorities for city council to work on through to 2014 and beyond.
The 2011-2014 Strategic Plan was approved at City Council on November 7, 2011.

The Process: Burlington, Our Future
A recognized best practice for municipal councils is the development of a strategic plan at the start of a new term of council. Strategic plans determine where a city will be going over the next year and into the future, how they will get there and how they will know if they were successful. The process involves a review of the city’s vision, mission and values and the setting of priorities and goals.

Stage 3(May - August) |
Develop mission, vision and values and strategic directions, objectives and initiativesCouncil to confirm the mission, vision and values and strategic directions, objectives, and initiatives. |
Stage 4(August - October) |
Draft PlanDraft the plan, provide public involvement opportunities in order to obtain feedback on the draft |
Stage 5(November) |
Plan ApprovalThe strategic plan will go to Committee and Council for approval. |
Stage 6(On-going) |
Implementation and ReportingThe initiatives in the 2011-2014 strategic plan will be implemented and progress on implementation will be reported on quarterly. |
