2008 Approved Budget

 Budget 2008

Burlington residents have been asked to take an active role in helping to shape our community’s future by participating in this year’s 2008 budget.

There are two main components to the city’s budget: the capital budget, which the city sets aside to cover the costs of building and renewing our libraries, roads, parks, recreational centres, arenas, pools and seniors’ centres; and the current budget, which covers the costs of maintaining such important city services as libraries, recreational centres, public transit, parks, snow removal, road maintenance and fire services.

There are many opportunities to get involved in this year’s budget process.

  • Attend the budget discussions on Monday, Jan. 21 at 1 p.m. at City Hall, 426 Brant St., or register as a delegate to speak. The review of the proposed 2008 capital budget and an overview of the operating budget will take place at this meeting.
  • Attend the 2008 operating budget discussions on Tuesday, Feb. 26 or register as a delegate to speak.
  • Sign up for Webminder on the city’s Budget 2008 page and receive budget updates (See bottom of this page.).
  • E-mail budget@burlington.ca or call 905-335-7600, ext. 7655 and provide comments and insights on the budget. Input will be provided to members of Council.
