Bike Week 2008 - May 31 to June 8


The Burlington Cycling Committee invites you to participate in one of the many cycling events being held throughout the community.

Lids for Kids


When: Saturday, May 31, 2008

Time: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: Burlington Mall, south parking lot

What: The first 300 children will receive a free helmet and bike bell! The event will also include a bike safety rodeo, bike repairs/maintenance, refreshments and live entertainment. Admission is free. (Sponsored by Burlington Mall and the Halton Regional Police Service)

Bike to Work Day

When: Monday, June 2, 2008

Time: 8 a.m.

Where: Cyclists will gather at their choice of three locations for a bike ride to City Hall:

East End - Sherwood Forest (bike path to New Street)

West End -La Salle Park (along North Shore Boulevard)

North End - Halton Regional Police Station, 3800 Southampton  Boulevard (bike path to Brant Street).

What: Start your week off with a healthy and fun activity. Join Ward 4 Councillor Jack Dennison and the Burlington Cycling Committee for a fun ride to City Hall. Free refreshments will be available upon arrival. Burlington residents are encouraged to bike to work on this day and throughout Bike Week.

Ride with the Mayor and Community Barbecue



When: Sunday, June 8, 2008

Time: Noon to 3 p.m.

Where: Central Park

What: Enjoy a bike ride with the Mayor and City Councillors from Central Park along the Waterfront at Downtown Burlington and back. A barbecue will follow at Central Park from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. with proceeds going to the Burlington Teen Tour Band. This event includes face painting, minor bike repairs and advice from local cycling retailers and a bike safety rodeo courtesy of the Halton Regional Police Service. Bring your bikes and leave them with our free and secure “Bike Valet” parking service until 3 p.m. Fun for the whole family!
