Inspection Connection Questions and Answers - November 25, 2008

1. What is Inspection Connection?

Inspection Connection is an interactive voice response system that provides virtually 24/7 access for the community to book, cancel or check on the status of a building inspection. The information is entered by the customer rather than by the inspector through a touch tone system linked with the city’s existing technology.

2. Why is the City of Burlington introducing this new technology?

Inspection Connection aims to provide improved customer service through 24-hour access to building permit information, allowing people to book as they build. It also helps the city to meet provincial reporting requirements and to improve the flow of information.

3. How do we know this technology will work?

This Interactive Voice Response system by Selectron Technologies Inc. is being used successfully in other municipalities throughout Canada and the United States, including London, Ontario.

4. What if I want to call an inspector directly?

You may still call an inspector directly during the transition period from Dec. 1, 2008 to March 30, 2009.
