BURLINGTON, ON – There is still time to help kick off Heritage Week 2009 by participating in the first annual Heritage Photo Contest.
The Burlington Heritage Week Committee wants to remind all residents to submit a photo of their favourite historical Burlington landmark along with its location and a caption (50 words or less) of how the photo captures the beauty of Burlington’s heritage. The deadline is 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009.
Winning entries will be announced on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, during the Heritage Day celebrations at the Burlington Public Library, located at 2331 New St. Contest winners will then be recognized at the annual Built Heritage Celebration and Awards Evening on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009. The Built Heritage Celebration and Awards Evening recognizes property owners who have contributed to preserving the city’s built heritage for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
Entries can be e-mailed to Jennifer Shaw at email@example.com or mailed to Heritage Week Committee, c/o Jennifer Shaw, 426 Brant Street, Burlington, Ont., L7R 3Z6. All entries should include the participant’s photo (electronic file, hard copy or CD), name, guardian’s name (if 17 years or under), phone number and 50-word caption. The contest is divided into two categories, 17 years and under and 18 years and older. It closes on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at 4:30 p.m. with only one submission per person.
