Core Commitment
A first draft of Core Commitment was considered by Council in August of 2003. Feedback received from the public and emerging Provincial planning initiatives were two important considerations in developing a revised document for Council consideration. “Burlington’s Core Commitment: Strategies to Achieve our Downtown Vision”, April 2005 includes Part I, which sets out a vision and guiding principles for our downtown, and Part II, which is intended to be updated annually and which sets out key strategic initiatives to be undertaken to ensure a vibrant and successful downtown. A companion document, “Investing in Downtown” is being put forward as a document to be used by Burlington Economic Development Corporation in promoting private sector investment in the downtown.
“Burlington’s Core Commitment’ Strategies to Achieve our Downtown Vision” is intended as a guidebook for downtown initiatives, and a statement of the importance of downtown now and into the future.
The documents below were tabled with Community Development Committee at their meeting of April 18, 2005, for and subsequently approved by Council on May 11, 2005.
