City of Burlington Handi-van service cancelled – City facilities remain open

For Immediate Release

BURLINGTON, ON – Due to continuing winter storm conditions, the City of Burlington Handi-van service will be cancelled for the remainder of the day. City Hall and all city facilities are currently open. All regular evening meetings and programs will run as scheduled.

Staff will ensure that those Handi-van passengers with essential medical appointments will receive their previously scheduled trips home. Passengers who have any questions or concerns about their Handi-van bookings today should contact a Handi-van representative at 905-639-5158. Burlington Transit continues to operate on schedule. However, passengers are advised that Burlington Transit may experience delays during the afternoon rush hour and should plan their trips accordingly.

The city’s fleet of snow clearing equipment is working to keep the main roadways safe for travel. The city is working first to ensure that both primary and secondary roadways are clear. When these streets have been cleared, the city will clear residential streets. Burlington residents can assist the city in snow clearing efforts by removing parked cars from the streets.

The city encourages people to be a good neighbour. Clear snow from fire hydrants and help neighours who have difficulty clearing snow. For more information on winter control activities, please visit the city’s website at www.burlington.ca.
