Joseph Brant Day is a heritage festival put on by Joseph Brant Museum in Burlington that celebrates the legacy of our city’s original settler, Joseph Brant Thayendanegea, and includes activities for all ages such as live entertainment, music and unique performances, special historic re-enactments and demonstrations, exhibitors, displays, interactive activities, games, artisans, crafters and other attractions. The event is an annual Civic Holiday celebration enjoyed by young and old.
Local exhibitors, including art centres, museums, historical sites and parks and recreation facilities set up booths at the park. Joseph Brant Day also hosts craftspeople and artisans that sell one of a kind artwork and crafts.
A range of activities is presented to the public at this event, including a delicious summer BBQ and refreshment stands, special crafts, games and face painting for kids, along with other activities including Birds of Prey demonstrations, a Reptile Zoo station and a large annual silent auction. The public can expect attractions such as the REMAX hot air balloon rides and boat rides at the LaSalle Park Marina.
An exceptional line up of entertainment is staged each year for Joseph Brant Day. Past examples include Sophisticated Swing, a 19-piece big band orchestra with their sparkling mix of music of the past, the renowned Burlington Teen Tour Band, Zacada Circus, School, the delightful Kobbler Jay, award winning Ojibway Storyteller Aaron Bell, a canoe builder, an interactive drum circle and a historic military encampment.
