For Immediate Release - February 25, 2009
BURLINGTON, ON - On February 25, RBC will present a $100,000 donation to the new Burlington Performing Arts Centre in downtown Burlington. The donation will be applied towards the Family Lobby Mini-Stage which will be a site for theatrical performances, conversations with artists and children, autograph sessions and small musical ensembles.
The new Burlington Performing Arts Centre is destined to be Canada’s first stand-alone green performing arts centre. The new centre will provide a venue for more than 60 performing arts organizations in the Burlington community and will entertain 718 people in the main stage theatre and with an additional 225 in the studio theatre.
“The Burlington Performing Arts Centre will bring life and excitement to our community,” said Sarah Adams, RBC’s regional vice president for Burlington. “The centre will provide opportunities to many artists and will allow children to express their creativity as aspiring dancers or musicians. We strongly believe that our investment in the arts will add to the cultural vibrancy of Burlington,” added Adams.
“We are very excited by the generous community contributions behind this important civic project,” said Mayor Cam Jackson. “The Royal Bank’s support towards the Family Lobby Mini-Stage will help ensure that the arts continue to be accessible and affordable for individuals and smaller arts groups to showcase their talents.”
