BURLINGTON, ON – Do you know someone who has made Burlington a better place to live, work or play? Nominations are being accepted for the City of Burlington’s 2009 Civic Recognition Awards until March 13.
“The Annual Civic Recognition Awards are an opportunity to express our gratitude and appreciation to residents who are making a difference in the quality of life of our city,” said Mayor Cam Jackson. “We want to hear about individuals who exemplify the spirit of volunteering and their dedication to making our city a better place to live. These awards are important because they help us celebrate the amazing contributions of so many groups and individuals who are committed to excellence in our community.”
If you know of any residents or groups who might qualify for this year's award, tell us now. Nominations can be made in one of these six categories:
- Citizen of the year;
- Junior citizen of the year;
- Senior person of the year;
- Arts person of the year;
- The Community service award; and
- The Environmental award.
A special awards evening will honour the winners on Thursday, May 14, 2009.
