Annual Easter Food Drive is set to Kick Off
BURLINGTON, ON--Mayor Cam Jackson, Chair of Burlington Food Share, today announced the Annual Easter Food Drive will begin Wednesday, April 8 and run until Wednesday, April 15, 2009.
Meeting the annual needs in our community with equal fairness and compassion is a priority. Although most of us are affected in some way by current economic conditions, we do not want to lose sight of this priority especially when those in need in our community may be reaching out to us in a greater way.
“Burlington Food Share assists on average over 750 individuals in our community each month to supplement their food budget,” said Jackson. “Children represent at least half of the number of people served.”
“At this time of year, our food bank shelves are getting low and the community is encouraged to help replenish them with a non-perishable food donation,” said Jackson. “A monetary donation can make a big difference and is most helpful since cash donations are used to purchase large volumes of bulk food at lower cost. A charitable tax receipt can be issued.”
