Celebrate International Youth Week in Burlington

BURLINGTON, ON - Youth Week is an international celebration of youth held annually from May 1 to 7. Youth Week is a fun, interactive celebration that builds a strong connection between our community and young people of all ages, cultures and areas of the city. A variety of activities are offered at little or no cost to bring young people together to celebrate their contributions to Burlington.

This year’s Youth Week activities include:

Youthfest
Saturday, May 2 in Central Park, 2299 New St.
Learn about volunteer opportunities; enjoy music, food and more.

Sing Your Heart Out Contest
Finals May 3 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Mapleview Shopping Centre, 900 Maple Ave.

Coffee Houses
May 6 and May 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Starbucks, 1250 Brant St. (Indigo Books location)
Two nights of live music, acoustic singers 14 to 19 years of age can register until April 24.

MUCH Music Video Dance
Friday May 1 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Tansley Woods Community Centre.
Grades 6, 7 and 8. Cost $12.50.

Thrown’ the Horns Band Night
May 2 at Ron Edwards YMCA, 500 Drury Lane, doors open 6:30 p.m.
For ages 13 years of age and older, cost $4

Be the Ultimate Guitar Hero
May 1 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Velocity, 3230 Fairview St. (Prospect Street frontage)
All high school students welcome

Drop- in Basketball
Sunday May 3, 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Tansley Woods Community Centre.
For youth 12 to 18 years of age.

Rock climbing
May 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Climber’s Rock, 5155 Harvester Road
For youth 14 to 18 years of age. Climber’s Rock provides harness. Cost $2 + $2 for shoe rentals; parents must sign waiver.

Skateboarding and inline skating
May 5 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Sherwood Park gym
For youth 10 to 18 years of age, bring your own helmet, parents must sign waiver.

Bowling
May 6 and 7 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Prime Time Bowl, 830 Laurentian Drive
For youth 10 to 18 years of age, cost: $2 per game.

Numerology session
May 2 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Ron Edwards YMCA, 500 Drury Lane
For ages 13 to 18 years of age.
