Celebrate summer at the Kite and Ice Cream Festival

For Immediate Release - July 7, 2009

BURLINGTON, ON – On Sunday, July 12 come out and experience high-flying fun at the Kite and Ice Cream Festival in Spencer Smith Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This free family day will have something for everyone to enjoy – especially with the delicious addition of ice cream to the traditional Kite Festival. Baskin Robbins, Eskimo Joes, Kawartha Dairy, Mapleton Organic and Spencer’s at the Waterfront will be on site serving up a variety of flavours perfect for a summer day’s treat.

All ages will have fun creating their very own kites and flying them along the lakefront setting, or just watching the kite-flying demonstrations. Families can learn how ice cream is made as Burlington Museums presents ice cream making demonstrations throughout the day. Mountain Equipment Co-Op will provide a free bike corral and will present a Bike Fest featuring bike vendors, demonstrations and clinics. Burlington Student Theatre will provide entertainment for the afternoon, and face painting, music and prizes will round out the festivities.

Thank you to our sponsors Jack Astor’s, Health from Within, and Life Lounge Family Chiropractor Centre for their support. For a complete listing of special events in Burlington visit www.burlington.ca or call the special events hotline at 905-335-7659.
