Waterdown Road Interchange
Description and Background

The creation of the interchange at Highway 403 and Waterdown Road has officially started. This initiative, which has been an important project for the west end of Burlington for many years, will create an off-ramp from the westbound 403 to Waterdown Road and an eastbound on-ramp onto the highway through the Aldershot GO Station. The $10.8 million project is funded by the City of Burlington, contributing $7.6 million which includes $1.6 million of federal gas tax funding, the Region of Halton contributing almost $500,000, and another $2.7 from the province of Ontario.

The upgrades to the Highway 403/Waterdown Road interchange have been thoroughly studied and planned, being endorsed by the Burlington Economic Development Corporation, the Chamber of Commerce, the Aldershot Business Improvement Area, the Aldershot Community Council and the Plains Road Village Vision.
This new interchange will benefit all residents of Burlington and surrounding areas by improving highway access, opening west Aldershot to new economic opportunities, improving access for emergency vehicles, and creating a stronger community. It will also become the new gateway to the Royal Botanical Gardens. Thousands of cars and more than a 1,000 trucks a day will be taken off Plains Road once the interchange is complete.
