MALE PERSONATING FIREMAN SOLICITING FOR DONATIONS:
On August 9th 2009 a male party was in the area of Woodview Road in Burlington presenting himself as a fireman and soliciting for donations for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The male did not have any identification to support his claim of soliciting on behalf of the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Contact with the Burlington Fire Department revealed that they have no one soliciting in the area and in fact that the Burlington Fire Department does not actively solicit door to door for charity.
In light of this it is believed that this male may have been collecting money for his own personal gain, not on behalf of any charity.
The male is described as male white, short hair, approximately 6’2” tall, slim build. Anyone who has been in contact with this male may contact Detective Constable D. Pettigrew at (905) 825-4777 Ext 2347 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
Halton Regional Police would like to remind residents that any persons soliciting for charity should wear appropriate identification from the charity they are soliciting for.
