The City of Burlington hosted its first Community Climate Change Summit called Take Action Burlington on Thursday, May 6th. Approximately 150 people gathered to learn about local environmental actions already taking place to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change and to discuss ideas to build on these actions. Participants included local residents, secondary and post secondary students, business and government representatives, volunteers and vendors.

Thanks to the generous support of our Take Action Burlington sponsors, the City of Burlington hosted a free follow-up event on Saturday, June 5th, World Environment Day, at City Hall attracting an additional 200 residents.

What's Next?

City staff will prepare an information report to council by the end of 2010 and a progress report with recommendations to the new council in early 2011. For further information, email environment@burlington.ca.
