Burlington Fire Department hosts open house in Kilbride

Volunteer firefighter recruitment information available

BURLINGTON, ON – On Sunday, Feb. 7 from 1 to 3 p.m., the Burlington Fire Department will host an open house in Kilbride at Station 5 located on 2241 Kilbride St. This is a family event and a great opportunity to learn how to stay fire smart and reduce fire danger in your home.

A complete fire protection program should include smoke alarms, sprinklers, and a regularly practiced fire escape plan. Representatives from the fire prevention team will showcase demonstrations and answer questions.

From Feb. 8 to Feb. 19, residents of Burlington who are 18 years of age and older and interested in becoming volunteer firefighters, can pick up an application and information package at either the Burlington Fire Department Headquarters or in Kilbride at Burlington Fire Station 5 during the following times:

Monday, Feb. 8 to Friday, Feb. 19
Fire Department Headquarters Station

1255 Fairview St.
8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Feb. 10 and Wednesday, Feb. 17
Burlington Fire Station 5 – Kilbride

2241 Kilbride St.
7 to 9 p.m

The Burlington Fire Department consists of both professional and volunteer firefighters. Burlington’s volunteer firefighters play an essential role in the fire department. Being a volunteer firefighter is no ordinary job, as the work is varied and challenging. New recruits will be assigned to the Kilbride or headquarters station based on where they live. The Kilbride station covers the rural areas of Burlington, mostly north of No. 2 Side Road.
