Energy Conservation Week
2009
The City of Burlington promoted Energy Conservation Week, May 17 - 23, 2009
Energy conservation is pivotal to Ontario's future. To keep our power grid healthy, Ontarians will need to reduce their energy consumption by 6,300 Megawatts by 2025 - that is equivalent to taking one in five electricity consumers off the power grid! By working together, we can reach Ontario's short- and long-term energy conservation goals.
2008
The province's Chief Energy Conservation Officer, proclaimed May 25 - 31, 2008 as the first annual Energy Conservation Week. The City of Burlington in partnership with Burlington Hydro promoted the week by placing advertising in the Burlington Post and by sending information packages to all Burlington schools including a letter, poster, rack card and the "Think. Believe Act." DVD. In addition City of Burlington staff set up two displays, one at City Hall and the other at Burlington Central Library. Finally two lunch hour seminars were offered on May 28th at noon and at 1:00 p.m. at Burlington City Hall. The "Think. Believe. Act." DVD was shown and there was also a presentation by Burlington Hydro staff about residential conservation programs.
A theme name was given to every weekday of Energy Conservation Week in 2008.

- Tuesday, May 27th - Tieless Tuesday educated businesses across Ontario on how to conserve energy in the workplace by turning air conditioners up two degrees and promoting a casual summer dress code.
-

- Thursday, May 29th - Count Every Kilowatt Day was intended to demonstrate the power of individual initiatives on the province’s overall conservation goals. Ontarians were encouraged to “Take Part. Take Action” as Ontario’s energy consumption was monitored.
