City of Burlington celebrates outstanding citizens

For Immediate Release: Feb. 18, 2010

BURLINGTON, ON – The City of Burlington is accepting nominations for its Annual Civic Recognition Awards. The deadline for nominations is March 19, 2010. If you know someone who has volunteered making the community a better place to live, work or play then consider submitting their name for this honour.

“The Annual Civic Recognition Awards provide a platform to recognize individuals who embrace the spirit of volunteering and their dedication to making our city a better place to live,” said Mayor Cam Jackson. “These awards are important because they help us celebrate the amazing contributions of so many individuals and groups committed to excellence in our community and to improving Burlington’s quality of life. Take the time now to nominate someone in our community who deserves to be recognized; with your nomination our entire city can say thank you.”

Nominations can be made in one of these six categories:

  • Citizen of the year;
  • Junior citizen of the year;
  • Senior person of the year;
  • Arts person of the year;

A special awards evening will honour the winners on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the Burlington Convention Centre.
