2-Hour Transfer


Transfers are available at time of boarding, are subject to the Terms & Conditions outlined below, and are good for travel in any direction including stopovers.  You can complete your entire transit trip on one fare if you're within the 2-hour time limit!  If you use a PRESTO card, you don't need to ask the driver for a paper transfer, the card will handle this for you when you "tap" on.

You can transfer between neighbouring systems; Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) and Oakville Transit at the following locations:

  • HSR: Transfer at the Burlington Bus Terminal and in the Hamilton downtown core.
  • Oakville Transit: Transfer at Lakeside Village or the RioCan Centre.

Transfer Usage - Terms & Conditions:

  • Transfer is issued only at the time fare is paid.
  • Transfer is valid for unlimited travel, until the expiry time indicated on the transfer.
  • Expiry time is 120 minutes (2 hours) from time of boarding first bus.
  • Expired transfers will not be accepted - no exceptions.
  • Complete transfer must be presented to Operator at time of boarding.
  • Mutilated transfers will not be accepted.
  • Transfers will not be re-issued.
  • In case of dispute, passenger is requested to pay the full fare and contact BT Customer Service at 905-639-0550 during regular operating hours: Monday-Friday 7am – 7pm, Saturdays 9am - 1pm and 2pm – 6pm, or e-mail: contactBT@burlington.ca.  Keep the disputed transfer and record the bus number, date and time of the occurrence.  If using your PRESTO card, we will require the card serial number from the back of the card.
  • Transfers have no cash value and are non-refundable.
  • Transfers are only valid for use by the passenger to whom the original transfer was issued, passing of transfers to others for payment or otherwise is strictly prohibited.
  • Fraudulent use of transfers is punishable by Law.
