How to select the right program?
Step 1: Review the chart below to find what program best suits your needs.
Step 2: Type in the program name in the Rec Express Activity Finder on the right hand column.
Step 3: Select the right program from the drop down menu and navigate to the Rec Express registration site and register for your program.
Parent and Tot Program(Ages 4-36 months) |
This City of Burlington program will orientate children into swimming. Tots and parents will be learning new skills and concepts that they will be able to practice from week to week. The program will focus on development through levels. This program is broken into 4 levels: Water Babies, 4-8 months - focusing on discovery Water Toddlers, 8-12 months, focusing on intentional behaviour Water Explorers, 12-18 months, focusing on exploring Water Stars, 18-36 months - aiming towards independence |
Timid Toddlers Program(Ages 2 ½ -6 years) |
Our caring and patient instructors will work with you and your child to increase their comfort level in the water without a parent. The class looks to build trust with the instructor and gradually as the lessons progress, aim to have parents or care givers out of the pool. |
Small Fry Program(Ages 3-6 years) |
Explore new adventures through the use of themes. Your child will explore the aquatic environment in creative and fun ways, while learning to swim. Our qualified instructors will encourage your child through guided play to try new movement skills that will eventually lead to independent swimming. Children will progress through the levels based on ability, not age. |
Red Cross Swim Kids Program(Ages 6-12 years) |
This program focuses on swimming strokes and skills along with water safety. For children who have completed the Small Fry program, they will proceed to Swim Kids Level 3. Otherwise candidates begin in Swim Kids 1. After Swim Kids, move to the Canadian Swim Patrol or proceed to Junior Lifeguard Club (JLC) or Bronze Star. |
Swim Patrol(Ages 8-13 years) |
Ages 8 - 13 years (Lifesaving Society Program) For eager children who want to learn life saving techniques and be challenged through fitness activities, this program is ideal. This is an excellent program to prepare for advanced leadership levels. |

After Swim Kids 6 is complete you can move between the Canadian Red Cross Swim Kids levels 7-10 and Lifesaving Society Swim Patrol in a personalized program to suit the child's needs of life saving & swimming strokes. |
