Music Program Registration
Music lessons run from September to June on a yearly basis. Lessons are arranged by contacting the Music Centre staff at 905-335-7808. Federal Children's Fitness Tax Credit, Federal Children's Arts Tax Credit and Ontario Activity Tax Credit:
The City of Burlington, Parks & Recreation department will issue a Tax Credit Receipt directly to you by mail, postmarked no later than February 28th. The receipt will detail eligible programs for each child whose fees were paid from January 1 to December 31 of the previous year.
Program & child eligibility are defined as follows:
- The child must have been under 16 years of age, or under 18 years of age if eligible for the disability amount tax credit**, at the beginning of the year in which an eligible fitness expense was paid.
- Be ongoing, supervised, suitable for children; and
- Be a minimum of 8 weeks in length, or in the case of camps, run 5 consecutive days.
- Be paid for with funds earned during the tax year of your income tax claim.
And either
- Include a significant amount of physical activity that contributes to cardio-respiratory endurance plus one or more of; muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, or balance; and
OR
- The prescribed program is artistic, cultural, or developmental in nature
- If an expense is eligible for the children's fitness amount, it is not eligible for the children's arts amount
- **It is not an organization's responsibility to determine whether or not a child is eligible for the disability amount. A receipt will be issued accordingly once notified an individual qualifies.

General Release
The Parks & Recreation Department will require you to acknowledge a general release prior to processing registrations through either RecExpress service. For all other methods of registration a signature in the General Release section of the registration form will be required. Please complete this portion of your registration form to avoid delays in processing your registration.
Payments
All registrations must be accompanied by a payment.
Waiting List Option
If a program is full you have the option of going on a waiting list for that program. When an opening occurs, registration staff will call you to reconfirm your interest in that program. From the time of that call you will have 48 hours to confirm your spot by paying for the program. (This can be done through RecExpress.) After 48 hours the opening will be offered to the next person on the waitlist.
Refunds
Should you require a refund please contact either the program supervisor or registration staff for assistance. Please note: Parks & Recreation Department refund procedures vary depending on the specific activity. Generally, after a program has commenced the refund is prorated to the day the request is received. Some activities and services are excluded from the general refund process.
NSF CHEQUES will be charged a $40.00 administrative fee.
Proof of Residency
When setting up your client account, you may be asked to provide proof of residency. Verification of residency is part of the process as your residency detemines your program fees and registration access dates. The Parks & Recreation Department reserves the right to request proof of residency.
Non-Residents
Non resident registration dates start 14 days after each release of our Live & Play Guide. All non-resident program fees are $8.00 (plus GST where applicable) more than the published Resident Program Fee. Non-residents can use RecExpress for all their registration needs.
HST
The Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) is applicable on programs where the majority of participants are over 14 years of age. HST, where applicable, is included in the published fee.

OOPS! Cancelled Courses
We cancelled it because we didn't know you wanted it! Sometimes excellent programs are cancelled because too many people waited until the last minute to register. Please increase your choices by registering early.
