Central Ontario Vehicle Rescue Challenge 2011 - May 14th - Public Welcome
The Burlington Fire Department is hosting the Central Ontario Vehicle Rescue Challenge on Sat. May, 14th at Fire Station Headquarters, located at 1255 Fairview Street (next to the Longo's Plaza). The official start time of the challenge/competition is 7:00 a.m. and will continue until 5:00 p.m. with the closing awards ceremony. The public is welcome to come and watch Fire Department Extrication Teams from Ontario, Nova Scotia and New York practice their vehicle extrication skills and techniques. Each Team consists of 6 members, including a team captain and medic. All Fire Department Extrication Team members will be challenged in a simulated scenario of a vehicle accident. The scenario includes a volunteer participant as a crash victim that requires extrication from the vehicle. Each team competing is judged on their skills and techniques to successfully extricate the simulated victim from the vehicle.
In the past, our department has hosted the 12th International in 1995, the 18th International in 2001, the 22nd International in 2006, in addition to the 2009 and 2010 Central Ontario Challenges.
Please come out and support the Burlington Fire Department Extrication Team.
