City of Burlington creates green map connecting transit, trails and tourism

BURLINGTON, ON—The City of Burlington has created a new map – Transit, Trails & Tourism – a Green Transportation Map for the City of Burlington—to show Burlington’s interconnected trail systems, transit routes and tourism destination points.

The green map, created with the help of a grant from the provincial Ministry of Transportation, reflects Burlington as a liveable community. The map highlights new trails and pathways for pedestrians and cyclists, making walking and cycling safer and encouraging healthy lifestyles. The map also showcases public transit routes and how they connect with cycling trails to make bike and ride travel more convenient.

“The City of Burlington continues to encourage green transportation options throughout the city by improving the city’s accessibility and its sustainable transportation options,” said Donna Shepherd, Director of Transit. “The green map shows residents and visitors how Burlington is connected from one side of the city to the other and provides them with a complete street index, making the green map an indispensable tool.”

The green map will be delivered to all households in Burlington and is available at the Downtown Bus Terminal, Burlington GO Stations, City Hall, Tourism Burlington and Burlington Transit ticket agents.
