Bottled Water

Thirsty? Try the tap

Did you know that you can fill your reusable water bottle in City facilities where you see the Thirsty? Try the tap sign? The program will be expanded this summer allowing you to refill your reusable water bottles at the following outdoor locations:

  • Orchard Park
  • Ireland Park
  • Beachway Park
  • City Hall

Tap water is:

Convenient

  • It's easy just turn of the tap, or push the button of the water fountain to quench your thirst.

Affordable

  • Tap water costs less than a penny a litre. You can quench your thirst from the tap and save money as compared to buying bottled water. You can always flavor up your water in your refillable container by adding a slice of lemon, orange or lime.

Tested and Safe

  • Halton Region performs thousands of tests every year on the water supply to ensure that the water is safe to drink. The Region's water quality exceeds the mandatory standards set by the Ontario Government. So go ahead and quench your thirst.

Background and Other Information for Permit Holders of City Facilities

  • On February 22nd, Council approved an implementation plan to restrict the sale of bottled water in city facilities, with some exceptions (CSI-02-10).
  • What you need to know as a permit holder?
  • Frequently asked questions
  • While the sale of bottled water has not been restricted at outdoor events and festivals, staff are working with organizers to promote municipal drinking water where possible. For example, a refillable water station is available for special events at Spencer Smith Park through the Special Events office allowing patrons to refill their water bottles at the event. Although there is no cost to book the water station, a damage deposit is required.
