City of Burlington installs bike route signs and pavement markings

BURLINGTON, ON— The City of Burlington is installing sharrows, a pavement marking designed to allow cyclists and vehicles to share the road and bike route signage on streets identified in Burlington’s Cycling Master Plan as ”proposed bicycle priority streets.”

The markings are meant to attract inexperienced cyclists who prefer to ride on less busy streets and increase driver awareness, as recommended in the master plan.

Work crews are installing pavement markings and signage at:

  • South Drive/Spruce Avenue from Guelph Line to Burloak Drive
  • Caroline Street from Drury Lane to the Hydro Corridor
  • Stephenson Drive from Maple Street to the end of the street (Hydro Corridor)
  • Grahams Lane from Brant Street to the end of the street (Hydro Corridor)
  • Drury Lane from New Street to Fairview Street
  • Shoreacres Road from New Street to Lakeshore Road

Motorists may experience some delay while pavement markings and signage are being installed. At each location, the installation will be completed within two days. The work is underway and will be completed by the first week of September.
