Budget 2012

One of the most important tasks for council each year is the city's annual budget. Budgeting is really about planning. We must balance the provision of quality services while maintain property taxes at a reasonable and affordable rate. These web pages are designed to keep you up to date about the 2012 budget that council is now considering and to give you background information to help you understand Burlington's budget and history.

2012 Budget Approval

The 2012 capital budget & forecast was approved on February 21, 2012, at approximately $520 million, and the 2012 current budget was approved on March 19, 2012, resulting in a city tax rate increase of 3.29%.

Burlington City Council wants you to get involved in the 2012 budget. Developing and approving the city's annual budget is one of council's most important tasks and your participation in the 2012 Budget Consultation Process counts. Please take the opportunity to watch the webcast of the overview presentation for the 2012 Budget community meeting. After viewing the webcast, you are ready to view our online workbook, and complete the workbook through our online survey. Your input will be presented to council to provide insight into residents thoughts for the 2012 proposed budget.
