Storm Water Maintenance

Storm Drainage Maintenance encompasses several programs designed to promote public safety, concern for the environment and protection of private and public property.

These activities include:

  • Maintaining creeks through erosion control and debris removal
  • Response to spill occurrences to assure drainage system and creek water quality
  • Work with regional watershed authorities to assure the protection of wildlife and fish stock
  • Inspection and maintenance of all city water quality ponds, retention ponds and oil separators
  • Annual monitoring of storm sewers to prioritize storm sewer repair to assure optimum use of budget
  • Headwall repairs at culvert inlet and outlets
  • Inspection and repair at pump stations
  • Providing locates of storm sewers to contractors and private citizens
  • Provide assistance to homeowners in the area of private drainage concerns
  • Cleaning of storm inlet and outlet screens on a regular and emergency basis
  • Adjust and repair to maintenance holes and catch basins
  • Silt and debris removal from all City catch basins on a four year cycle
  • Placement and replacement of roadway culverts
  • Roadside ditching to ensure adequate water conveyance and reduce erosion
  • Structure maintenance of bridge hand rails, drains, sidewalks, abutments and expansion joints
