 epost logo Receive your property tax bills electronically by visiting www.epost.ca, creating an account and adding a mailer of City of Burlington – Property Tax.  The option to have your bills delivered electronically is also available through the major banking websites in partnership with epost.

The City bills property taxes twice a year; Interim and Final Billing.

The Interim tax bill is produced in January with two installment dates, typically in February and April.  The interim bill is based on collecting half of last year's taxes.  Final billing is in June of each year after the budgets for the Region and City have been approved and the  Province of Ontario education tax rates have been received.  Final billing installment dates are in the months of June and September.  Final taxes are based on the assessed value and the annual tax rate.

Your total property tax bill provides for more than just the cost of City services. Like the City, the Region of Halton prepares a budget each year, with a large part of their operating expenditures funded through property taxes. The Province determines education tax rates.

The city's portion of the overall residential tax bill is 40.7 cents of every tax dollar and the remaining 59.3 cents goes to the Region of Halton and Province of Ontario for education taxes.

The City considers it very important for taxpayers to understand what City services they receive for their property tax dollars, which for each $100,000 of an urban residential assessment amounts to approximately $382 for 2013.
