City Council to recognize VIA Rail passenger and staff who helped following train derailment


BURLINGTON, Ont.—On April 30, Burlington Mayor Rick Goldring, on behalf of City Council, will recognize one passenger and four employees who helped on the scene following the derailment of VIA Rail Train 92 in Burlington on Feb. 26.

Wayne Easterbrook, a Warrant Officer with the Canadian Armed Forces, and four VIA Rail employees will receive certificates of appreciation.
The public is welcomed to attend this meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. in the second floor Council Chambers at Burlington City Hall, 426 Brant St.

Mayor Goldring also issued a thank you letter to emergency responders immediately after the train derailment.
