Burlington Accessibility Advisory Committee
The Burlington Accessibility Advisory Committee (BAAC) is a volunteer citizen's advisory committee to Burlington City Council, reporting through the Community Services Committee. The BAAC provide advice on the identification, removal and prevention of barriers to people with disabilities in the municipality's by-laws, policies, programs and services.

Committee Representation
The BAAC advises the city on accessibility issues, not only to help remove existing barriers but also to prevent new barriers from being created. They provide input to staff and council about matters of accessibility and works in partnership with the City to create the Corporate Accessibility Plan.

All site plans submitted to the city, including those of the private sector, are reviewed by the BAAC to make sure accessibility is considered before a building is constructed or modified as described in Section 41 of the Planning Act.
Current barrier-free improvement and construction projects the BAAC is involved with include New City Park, Norton Park, The Burlington Performing Arts Centre, the Alton community campus project, New Horizon Homes and the Aldershot branch of the Burlington Public Library.

In addition, the BAAC participates in numerous public awareness activities in and around Burlington throughout the year.
Meeting Dates
The committee meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month, at 7:00 p.m. in City Hall. No meetings are held during the months of July, August and December.
