Burlington Crime Prevention Committee
Who We Are 
Originally known as the Burlington Counter-Act Vandalism Committee, this volunteer citizens' committee was created in 1981 to counter-act vandalism and has since expanded its focus to include all types of crime. We are a group of motivated citizens dedicated to keeping Burlington a safe place to live, work and play. We report to City Council through the Community and Corporate Services Committee.
Mandate
To foster awareness, understanding, and application of crime prevention strategies throughout the Burlington Community.
Responsibilities and Objectives
- Develop crime prevention awareness in the Burlington community.
- Network, support and coordinate activities with other crime prevention groups.
- Liaise with the Halton Regional Police Service.
- Focus on the prevention of crime through initiatives that are specific, attainable and can be evaluated.
Committee Representation
The Burlington Crime Prevention Committee is comprised of 13 members, including: 10 representatives from the community at large (voting members), 1 Council liaison (non-voting), 1 representative from the Halton Regional Police Service (non-voting), 1 Crime Prevention Co-ordinator (non-voting) and a staff liaison (non-voting).
This Committee meets on the 4th Thursday of each month in City Hall at 7:00 p.m. (subject to change). For meeting dates and times please refer to our online Meeting Calendar.
