EnerGuide for Houses Program

Important update: May 16, 2006 from http://oee.nrcan.gc.ca/residential/personal/home-improvement.cfm

The EnerGuide for Houses program and the Retrofit Incentive have been discontinued as of midnight May 12, 2006 (by the federal government).

Property owners who have had a pre-retrofit evaluation performed prior to this date can have a post-retrofit evaluation and still qualify for a grant until March 31, 2007, subject to the availability of funding.

It is suggested that you complete your upgrades well in advance of this date in order to allow enough time for your follow-up evaluation, which must be done before March 31 to be covered.

To book your appointment contact the energy advisor whose name and phone number are listed on the EnerGuide evaluation report that you received at the time of your original evaluation.

In 2004 and the early part of 2005, the City of Burlington provided a $25 subsidy to residents who obtained an energy audit through the federal EnerGuide for Houses program. Originally, the subsidy was only available through the Halton Residential Energy Efficiency Project (REEP). Almost 300 people received this subsidy while it was in effect.

The program was expanded between August and December 2005 to all Burlington residents as long as the energy audit was completed by a delivery agent licensed by Natural Resources Canada under the EnerGuide for Houses program. City staff issued rebate forms to agents who provided this service in Burlington. The signed and completed form was then forwarded to city staff and a cheque for $25 was submitted directly to the resident. Approximately 100 residents took advantage of this rebate offer.
