Nelson Arena
Renovation Project
The project is for upgrading and improving the Nelson Arena and Pool. The work includes; upgrades to the building envelope; construction of new front entrance to provide universal accessibility and energy efficiency, new accessible family change room and new multi-use courts; and upgrading playground equipment to CSA standards.
In August 2012 the City submitted this project for financial assistance under the new Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF) Program. The submission included improvements to the front entrance, family change room, building envelope, and multi-use court and playground (CSI-18-12). The project was approved for funding assistance of $800,000.00 where the Federal Government has given 33.3 percent of the total project cost funded from this program in the amount of $266,400.00 (CIIF-C0092 Upgrading and Improvements to the Nelson Arena and Pool).
This Tender includes the family change room and vestibule improvements have begun construction March 2013 with completion scheduled for June 2013. The building envelope and multi-use court and playground improvements will be tendered under two (2) separate contracts later in 2013.
